 | it's a beautiful day. if you ever get to old europe and it's a beautiful day, you must take the train from Cologne to Mainz -- it meanders along the Rhine at a chugalug pace (au contraire to what they may be telling you when you buy the ticket and pay extra for the so-called InterCity or EuroCity so-called Express), past ruins of real castles and the Loreley, a hairpin curve in the river where blond ladies in flowing white dresses used to sing to boat captians, causing them to sink their ships against the submerged cliffs .. |

| nicht nur habe ich mich etwas geärgert, einen ICE Zuschlag bezahlt zu haben, um jetzt wegen Verspätung doch in einem RegionalExpress zu sitzen -- nein, mehr noch: der Schaffner will mir jetzt sagen, meine Fahrkarte sei ungültig, weil ich ja nicht im ICE sitze, und das sei ja ein Plan und Spar ticket. |

| zufällig fällt meine Online-Transaktion in die Zeit um Mitternacht. nach ca. 5 Minuten rumklickerei -- hier ist vielleicht auch Verbesserungsbedarf -- komme ich an den Punkt wo ich nochmal meine Kreditkartendetails bestätigt haben, meine Bahncard Nummer korrigiert habe -- hier ist vielleicht auch Verbesserungsbedarf: warum weiss die DB nicht, dass Sie mir eine neue BahnCard geschickt hat, und dämlicherweise die Nummer schon wieder geändert hat? -- da kommt zum ersten Mal eine zusätzliche Frage: |

| Der schleichende Verdacht kommt auf, dass die das extra gemacht haben; durch diese zusätzliche Verzögerung schlägt's 0 Uhr -- ohne sie wär's vielleicht 23:58 gewesen. what .. me, paranoid? |
| Beim zweiten Anlauf -- hier ist vielleicht auch Verbesserungsbedarf: wieso, wieso wird mir kein Link angeboten? wieso muss ich von vorne vorne anfangen? -- kommt diese zusätzliche Frage nicht mehr. vorher habe ich sie auch noch nie gehabt. hm. |

| beim Aussuchen der Verbindung habe ich Fahrradmitnahme angekreuzt; deswegen habe ich auch sone bescheuerte Verbindung mit 3mal umsteigen. Beim dritten von vier Zügen sagt der Schaffner jetzt, ich hätte für das Fahrrad nicht bezahlt. |
| Hallo? Wie kann es sein, dass ich dieses ganze Prozedere durchlaufe, immer schön Fahrrad anklicke, eine bescheuerte Verbindung in Kauf nehme, damit ich das Fahrrad mitnehmen kann -- hier ist bestimt auch Verbesserungsbedarf: warum hat nicht einfach jeder Zug vorne son halbes Fahrradabteil? Die Bahn verlöre nichts dabei, und alle gewännen -- wie kann das alles sein, und dann ist in meinem Ticket das Fahrrad nicht mit drin? |

| a long time ago a friend of mine had an idea, about trains. |
| trains are very cool, i'm typing in one right now. the thing that makes trains slow is the stops. on a cross-country trip here in olde europe, about half of the travel time is spent slowing down for a stop, stopping at a stop, speeding up after a stop. |
| what if trains didn't stop? |
| people wanting to get off could go to the door, hop into a sedgway cart, detach & coast down to perambulation speed. |
| people wanting to get onto a train would go to a cart station, check out a sedgwayCart (i'm going to trademark this term now .. done.) speed up to train speed, attach, & transfer into the speeding bullet train. |
